Sheepfold Walk with Tess Pike

The walls walk the fell… and have done so for hundreds and hundreds of years.
On the slopes of Casterton Fell is an ancient stone circle, built by prehistoric man, and above the village is Wandales Lane, a route which – with a bit of imagination – echoes with the sound of Roman soldiers’ boots. Between the two is Fellfoot Road. If you could go back in time to the days before tractors and quad bikes, when farmers did their shepherding on foot, you would see the drovers gathering their flock into sheepfolds at dusk.
Join Tess on Fri 20 Feb and go exploring this old drovers’ route. Discover Andy Goldsworthy’s illuminating collection of reimagined sheepfolds along the way, and if the weather’s fine, we’ll stop for snacks or a picnic – and maybe feel inspired to have a go at sketching nature.
