True Stories

Join us for an evening of live storytelling! Come along share your true stories on the theme of ‘Sliding Doors’. Was there a moment in your life when you had to decide between two diverging paths? Have you ever thought about what might have happened if you’d made a different choice?

Stories can range from the profound to the prosaic; from a low-stakes choice between two holiday destinations, to the chance of a lifetime! As long as it’s true, happened to you and can tell it in under 5 minutes we’d love to hear it.

Tell your story in front of a friendly audience or just watch. You can sign up on the night and everyone is welcome from experienced storytellers to absolute beginners!

This is a one-off event especially commissioned for Kirkby Lonsdale’s Illuminate Festival.

What is the format?

Hosted by local creative, Jayne Davies, the evening will begin with a story, after which audience members will be invited to ‘illuminate’ us with their personal stories. There’ll be time for questions and conversations after each story and during the interval.
